Fanu

The guest of honour on the Bass Stage - the producer of intellectual, deep and dark drum & bass from Finland – Fanu! Junglist and samplist, passionate DJ, bassline-o-holic, avid music lover, a breakbeat fanatic. An artist whose breaks are described by the maestro of electronic music Amon Tobin as “full of texture and character”.

While living in the rather dark and cold North of Finland, Fanu got into breakbeat music and started experimenting with electronic music in the mid-90s when he was around 15 years old. His biggest influences were the experimental acts of the 90s, such as Future Sound of London, Underworld, Source Direct, Photek, old Metalheaz crew, DJ Shadow, DJ Krust, Amon Tobin, to mention a few. Fanu admits that the greatest influence of all was that of his surrounding environment – the dark, cold Finnish climate.

Fanu released music on several labels (Subtitles, Commercial Suicide, Offshore, OHM Resistance, Columbia, Breakin’, Pinecone Moonshine etc.), after which he started his own label, Lightless Recordings.

After the successful releases Daylightless, Homefree and Serendipity, and a number of remixes of world-renowned artists, it is time to close the door of the studio for some time and exchange energies with the audience of Tundra.
